Debbie Wedemeier, CHC
In 1997 I was in my eleventh year of teaching business education to high school and college students. I was definitely burning the candle at both ends. I had been on a non-stop quest to complete my bachelor’s degree in education after 14 years in the corporate world. I went right into working on my Master’s degree, and then right into a Master’s +30 program. I was teaching, advising students, chairing committees, singing in my church choir, and performing in various community theater companies, and then my body said, “No more”! I developed some serious health issues that forced me to go in search of lifestyle changes that would provide a solution to my current health challenges. It’s important to note here that during this ordeal I did not “feel” really bad, but the results of not doing anything could have been really bad!
This was my wake-up call. It was time to take care of my body. I was introduced to the concept of whole foods, which more than likely, saved my life. I have always felt I was given a gift that I had to share with others, and that’s what I have done while I continued teaching business education programs which also led into a lot of personal growth education. I began to learn about the benefits of whole food and its effect on our brain and body working at optimal levels. For 20+ years now, I have grown in my understanding of what food can do for our bodies. It was during this time that I had the privilege of being introduced to the teachings of Dr. Sears. I have learned about the four pillars of health: Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude, and Nutrition (L.E.A.N); I have learned how inflammation is the basis of all disease, and it is possible to live without pain by decreasing and even eliminating inflammation with science-based solutions; and I have learned that experiencing whole food nutrition during pregnancy and beyond can provide a life of optimal health and longevity.
Upon my retirement with 30+ years of education experience, it was suggested that I become a Certified Health Coach through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute. I had retired from a “school district,” but I wasn’t ready to retire from educating others, so it was pretty much a no brainer to pursue my next life journey by combining my love of teaching and empowering others to make decisions about their health and wellness.
I have seen so many students and adults suffer through the years because they didn’t know how their food choices along with their lack of exercise affected their learning, sleep, moods, productivity, and stress levels. My desire to share what I have learned about achieving optimal wellness with people of all ages is the reason I started Decide and Act Wellness, LLC. I hope you “decide” to grow in your health journey by joining me in one of my programs. This one “act” could change your life forever.
